|The Office of the Assistant Administrator for Solid Waste and Emergency Response provides Agency-wide policy, guidance and direction for the Agency's solid waste and emergency response programs.
The Office develops guidelines and standards for the land disposal of hazardous wastes and for underground storage tanks.
The Office furnishes technical assistance in the development, management and operation of solid waste activities and analyzes the recovery of useful energy from solid waste.
The Office has also undertaken the development and implementation of a program to respond to abandoned and active hazardous waste sites and accidental release (including some oil spills) as well as the encouragement of innovative technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater.
